Education

2011-2015: MBiolSci Biochemistry – The University of Sheffield.

3rd Year Project: Structure and function of a bacterial spore investigated by electron microscopy (with Per Bullough)

4th Year Project: Structural studies on the protein evolution of BPSL1958 from Burkholderia pseudomallei (with Dr Pat Baker)

2015-present: PhD student, Integrated Biosciences Group, School of Clinical Dentistry, The University of Sheffield

Current work

I am a BBSRC CASE student, part sponsored by Ludger. In my project, I will attempt to gain a structural understanding of oral bacterial glycosidases using X-ray crystallography. The structural data will enable me to engineer these enzymes to improve their specificity and activity for glycan biotechnology applications. This project will be under the supervision of Dr Graham Stafford and Dr John Rafferty.
